Now it's been nearly two weeks since I've written the last entry. That's not without a reason, beacause I was very busy.

Starting with the buying of a camper van which caused several hassles. We (me and a mate) decided to buy an old Mitsubishi Campervan with nearly no camping gear in it. So we spent one week buying camping gear and sowed our own curtains for sleeping at night. Just to find out at the end of that week that the cigarette lighter and the headlamp didn't work. We bought the van at a garage so we brought it back and to our amazement the guy fixed everething and didn't want to get paid for it. Later we discovered that the fuel hose and the fuel filter were damaged too. But we got that fixed too, everything is well now. The van is nearly and oldtimer (it's from 1983) but it's cute and I like it very much (because of the yellow colour we call it "the surprise egg": Sometimes it runs sweet, and sometimes it gets interesting and we have something to work on).

From Darwin we went to a small town named Katherine, where we stayed for the night in a small caravan park. Next day we went on over the border to Western Australia to Kununurra. On the border we weren't allowed to take any vegetables into Western Australia, so we had to throw everything into the quarantine bin.

In Kununurra we decided to stay for three days, on the one hand because aof the defect hose fuel, on the other hand because we had the opportunity to make a tour to the beautiful Bungle Bungles, a unique Sandstone rock formation which look like huge beehives. I'll try to put some pictures in here soon. Unfortunately it was not possible to make a 4 Wheel Drive tour due to the start of the wet season (there are few roads which are in a very bad condition in this area) so we decided to book a scenic flight over the area. It was just a small airport in Kununurra, and when I saw the airplane I felt really excited: it was a very small tiny Cessna with only six seats (including the one for the pilot). Soon after the start we got into a storm and it felt like a rollercoaster ride, but after 10 minutes it got quieter and the flight was just an amazing experience. We flew over the huge Lage Argyle, the Bungle Bungles and the Argyle Diamond Mine, which is the biggest Diamond Mine in the world. 2 hours and 15 minutes later we landed in Kununurra. Unfortunately we discovered that during the 2 hours there was a heavy rain in Kununurra and we had left the sunroof of our van open ... But nothing serious had been damaged so it was alright.

Well, now we are in Broome looking for a job (fingers crossed) before we'll head down to Perth in a few weeks.

cu later
