Goodbye Sydney, hello Darwin
G'day everybody. So this is my next English update. I hope everything's alright with you.
Sydney is a gorgeous city (except on sunday evenings when you want to get something to drink). Bu let's start with the beginning. The flight from Munich to Sydney last week from Friday to Sunday was a complete mess. I"ve spent two nights in the plane, I couldn't sleep at all and the meals were awful ( I was flying with Korean Air and so we got Korean food ...). But taking a stroll through Darling Harbor after arriving at the hostel made it all worthy. I arrived with a group of 9 other guys from Germany who are also doing the work & travel trip at 6 am at Kingsford Smith Airport in Sydney. The problem was, to avoid Jetlag we had to stay up until evening what is really hard when you haven"t slept for two nights. So in the afternoon we went to a Bistro in Darling harbor to get something enjoyable to eat, and I nearly fell asleep then.
I must say, Sydney is a beautiful place to be. I"ve been at the Opera House, walked over the Harbour Bridge, visited the wild cockatoos, fruitbats and parrots in the Botanic Garden and so on. The Pubs are also very cool, but they close really early at sunday evening (atr 10 pm). We had a hard time finding something what had open after that time yesterday.
The first hostel we stayed in was an internationally renowned YHA Youth Hostel. Since that was a bit too expensive to stay in for a longer time, we moved to another one which was just around the corner, and we stayed there for 4 nights. But it was a bit too dirty and now we"re stayiung in our third hostel which is a complete mess. Yesterday I've seen the first cockroach in the shower and the kitchen is just awful. I'm glad that we're leaving tomorrow.
I'll be heading up to Darwin in the far tropical north tomorrow together with a travel mate who is also doing work & travel with the Work & Travel Company. Perhaps we'll be doing some fruitpicking (the mango season starts now up there) or we'll buy a car there and travel down the west coast a bit to find some work. It'll be very hot up there in Darwin this time of year, and I'm very excited about what will happen there.
Pictures will be coming soon.
Bye
Ingo
